Mission Statement

Every day in many diverse ways the Department of Public Works touches almost every aspect of life for those living and/or working within the boundaries of the Town of West Springfield and to a lesser extent those residents of the surrounding communities that utilize the roads and recreation areas.

Our mission is to ensure safety and comfort in public service areas ranging from maintenance of streets and sidewalks, to the installation and repair of street signs, from water treatment and distribution, to snow removal and sanding.

In addition to the above, DPW is also responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Town owned parks and Town trees.

Other responsibilities include the collection of recyclables, solid waste, yard waste and large bulk items through sound programs.

We acknowledge that the safety and comfort of the citizens of West Springfield is the prime purpose of our mission and to them we commit our efforts to attain each goal with environmental sensitivity and fiscal constraint.
