                                                       DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS

The Town of West Springfield is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Public Works who are committed to enhancing the Town's standard of excellence in customer service.

The Director's position offers an attractive based salary range of $75,369-$100,461 in addition to a comprehensive and generous benefits package.

This professional position is responsible for directing the operations, planning and administration of all functions of Public Works which is comprised of divisions including administration, highway, maintenance, sanitation, engineering and water/sewer.  The Director oversees the management of 66 employees plus contractors and consultants in all aspects of public works maintenance and construction activities required to supply water and sewer, road and sidewalk maintenance, trees, sanitation and recycling services.  As Department Head, reports directly to the Mayor and is responsible for budgeting, approval and expenditures of $11 million dollars; pursuing and attaining funds from state and federal agencies; contract negotiation and grievance resolution and proactively directing Town's responses to weather and related emergencies.  Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline plus ten (10) years of progressively responsible work related experience.  Degree in civil engineering and public water drinking treatment and distribution licenses is desirable.  Must have demonstrated ability as a skilled manager, possess excellent interpersonal and computer skills and be a management team player.
