The Planning Board has the statutory authority to develop the Master Plan. The Mayor has appointed a Master Plan Advisory Committee to guide the development of the master plan update. Public input will be through a community survey, public forums and through the Master Plan Advisory Committee members.

What is a Master
Plan?
A Master Plan identifies where the community is today, provides a vision of where it wants to go, and develops a road map for the decision making process to get there. The Master Plan:
- captures a snapshot of what
- identifies a vision for the future through public input and by projecting future conditions and needs.
- expresses the broad vision for a community’s future and provides a framework for achieving that vision.
- is a living document; a committee will be developed to review the Master Plan on an annual basis to keep it current with the changing needs of West Springfield.
