ART ENRICHMENT
Beginning the week of July 5th,  art classes will be offered at the West Springfield Middle School, with all classes participating in an Art Show on August 9th.  The classes are offered for all levels of experience.  Class size is limited.  Early Registration fee: $45 residents ($50 non-residents).  After May 6th fees are $50 residents, ($55 non-residents).  No classes Monday July 4th.  Doreen Crescione, Art Director

Young Peoples Art:  Children in this class will use a variety of art media that is age appropriate.  Colorful and exciting projects will be made while learning about Art History and other cultures.  From paintings to puppets, students will be engaged in the art process every minute.

Printmaking :  A fun and exciting art technique, students will learn about relief prints, mono-printing and simple silk screens.  Students will also create rubber stamps with their own unique designs.  Printmaking is a great tool for making cards, wrapping paper and beatiful works of art!

Painting/Airbrush:  A combination of two great art mediums!  Students will learn a variety of painting techniques including making their own “paint” for a mud cloth painting and using found objects to airbrush a fun design on.  Color mixing, egg painting and self portraits are just a few examples of projects students will be creating.

Creative Sculptures:  Students will learn all about this 3-dimensional art form and its importance in making decorative and functional designs.  Using a variety of material such as stuffed paper, crushed foil and self-harding clay, students will create and have fun!

Drawing: Important techniques will be the focus of this class; perspective, contour drawing, and the use of shading will be taught.  Students will also have fun drawing whimsical designs that teach about abstract art and other cultures. Pencil, ink and charcoal as well as colored drawing tools will be implemented throughout the course of the class.

Jewelry:  This class will design jewelry with pre-made beads as well as hand-made beads they create with clay.  Students will be encouraged to make jewelry sets, learn macrame, and use objects from nature that can be worn proudly.
